A Closer Look on a World of Warcraft Warrior
The World of Warcraft has nine classes which a gamer can choose to play as. There are warriors, warlocks, druids, hunters, priests, mages, paladins, shamans and rogues. Each class has abilities that are so unique that it is hardly shared between and among classes.
The Warrior race excels in melee combat. They play the role of the vast damage dealer or what is called the tank. They do not rely on mana to increase their abilities. Instead, they use rage. This is like rogue’s energy. Rage has a limit of 100 points. It builds up whenever the warrior deals out damages on his opponents and received damages himself.
When not in combat, rage rapidly decays but there are some abilities that a warrior can learn which allows him to stay within combat in order for rage to generate.
Warriors have a total of three different stances which gamers can switch among depending on the situation they find themselves in:
1. Battle Stance
This is the normal and the default stance. It decreases the threat generation and has no negative effect. If it has, it is only a slight effect.
2. Defensive Stance
It increases the threat generation and at the same time decreases the damage taken. To compensate for it, it also decreases the damage that is dealt.
3. Berserker Stance
It increases the chances of the critical strikes, the damages taken and reduces the threat generation on a slight level.
There are some warrior abilities and attacks that require the character to be in a stance that is specific for it to be cast. However, when the gamer switiches stances, it reduces the rage back to 0. But there is a maximum of up to 25 range which is retained but only for some abilities, attacks and talents.
Just like the other classes in the World of Warcraft, Warriors have three talent treeas as well.
1. Fury Talent Tree
It increases the rage generation as well as the attack speed. This is perfect for dual weilding.
2. Arms Talent Tree
It improves the burst damage and is appropriate for two-handed weapons.
3. Protection Talent Tree
This is the only one among the three talent trees that is not for increasing damages. What it does instead is to increase the Warrior’s defensive skills as well as the threat generation.
The Warrior has these following races: Human, Dwarf, Gnome, Night Elf, Tauren, Undead, Orc, Troll and Draenai. They canuse the following weapons: Swords, Two Handed Swords, Axes, Two Handed Axes, Maces, Two Hunded Maces, Polearms, Shields, Daggers, Staves, Ranged, Fist Weapons. The Warrior’s Armor are: Cloth, Leather, Mail and Plate.
Warriors are often mistaken as the Rogues simply because Rogues are also into combat. However, Rogues rely on the energy and not rage. The maximum amount of energy Rogues can have at one point is only 100. Unlike Rage, Energy regenerates faster.
Rogues can also go into stealth mode which is something a Warrior is not capable of. It makes Rogues invisible to the enemy players and can only be detected once they are hit.
Some avid World of Warcraft gamers prefer Warriors if they are offensive players whereas they prefer Rogues if they are defensive players. It all boils down to the characteristic of the gamer. This determines which race he plays as in the World of Warcraft.
