If you are a World of Warcraft player, you can probably be enjoying your game right now, and wondering why you should even get out of your chair to get that important drink of water or that dinner you haven’t had in days. If you haven’t even heard of the World of Warcraft, but are mildly acquainted with massively multiplayer online role playing games, or MMORPG, you might not even get what the fuss is all about.

Priests serve as healers, hunters serve as the explorers and animal experts, the paladins work to defend the weak, the versatile shamans cast spells with the help of spirits from nature, and the rogues work as both assassins and thieves.

To go further in the World of Warcraft, players have to join battles, inflict damages, cast spells, and learn new skills. They can go on quests and fight monsters. Higher points can allow them to wear better armor, fight better in their next battle, and win items that can help them explore the World of Warcraft better. In order to play World of Warcraft, you therefore have to keep track of your points and know what path to best exploit in order to move forward faster.

You will therefore need to download certain modifications to make your user interface easier to use, and to allow you greater control over the character that you assume. These downloadable modifications are known as addons. They can help you use your keyboard easily to make your character’s movement more fluid; add toolbars to help you keep track of your tools and points better; and even allow you access to display properties that can help you advertise your trade skills better amongst the rest of World of Warcraft’s players.

You can download such addons online, but with the latest release of the World of Warcraft, you will need to be extra cautious. The newest World of Warcraft release also has modifications in the way that addons interact with game infrastructure, so some old addons have to be updated. Before downloading any addon updates, review the World of Warcraft terms of service in order to check if you are making critical changes to your game that might disqualify you or ban you from the MMORPG.

Consult with experienced players who might have experience with World of Warcraft addons. Caution is advised especially for downloads from sites that are independent of official World of Warcraft creators, especially since the official creators waive any responsibility for what such addons can do if you suddenly have incompatibility issues. There are some addons however, like Thottbot, that are licensed and have long been trusted for their ability to keep your World of Warcraft game up to date and easier to play.
