In the World of Warcraft, Gamers can train their own pets. These help them in their quests. The pets can also be mounted and make it easier for the gamer to travel from town to town, be it through riding the animal or flying (some of the pets have wings.) In fact, some hunter pets have naval skills as well.

There are two kinds of pet abilities – the passive pet abilities and the active pet abilities.

Passive Pet Skills:
There is a fee for the gamer to let his hunter pet learn all the passive skills at the pet trainer.

1. Great Stamina
This determines how much health the hunter pet has. There are up to 10 ranks and the stamina can be increased up to 40. The pet level requirement is from Level 10 to 60. The Training Point Costs range from 5 to 185. The Silver Costs from .1 to 100.

2. Natural Armor
This helps protect the hunter pet from damages. There are up to 10 ranks and the armor can be increased up to 1000. The pet level requirement is from Level 10 to 60. The Training Point Costs range from 1 10 150. The Silver Costs from .1 to 100.

3. Damage Resistances
There are five kinds of Damage Resistances – Arcane Resistance, Fire Resistance, Frost Resistance, Natural Resistance, Nature Resistance, Shadow Resistance. This gives the hunter pet added protections against a specific damage. There are up to 4 ranks and the increased resistance is up to 120. The pet level requirement is from Level 20 to 50. The Training Point Costs range from 5 to 90. The Silver Costs from 4.40 to 72.

Active Pet Spells/Abilities
Aside from the Growl skill, active pet skills can be learned through taming the pet that already has an idea of how the skill is. After hunting with the pet, the skill is automatically learned. Eventually, you will be able to teach other hunter pets. In order to find the ability you need, you must tame a specific kind of beasts. The chances are random for the beast to know the spell which you need to learn.

1. Growl
It taunts the mob and increases the likelihood that the mob attacks the taunter. It can be learned by every hunter pet. It is instant cast, costs 15 focus with a 5 yard range and a 5 second cool down.

2. Cower
